Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about call forwarding, billing, voice capabilities, and legal compliance.

Telephony & Call Diverting

Do I need a second phone or a new SIM card?▼

No. You keep your current mobile phone, SIM card, and existing phone number. You simply dial a short GSM divert code (e.g. **004*...) on your phone, and any call you miss, decline, or cannot take will automatically divert to your receptionist.

What happens when someone rings my number?▼

Your phone rings normally. If you are free, you answer it yourself. If you are busy, on a job, under a sink, or press 'Decline', your network routes the caller seamlessly to your receptionist in under one second.

Does this work on all UK mobile networks?▼

Yes! All major UK carriers (EE, Vodafone, O2, Three) as well as virtual operators (giffgaff, Tesco Mobile, Sky Mobile, SMARTY, VOXI, iD Mobile, Lebara) support standard GSM conditional diversion.

Can I use this on a dual SIM phone?▼

Yes. In your phone settings, simply ensure you dial the divert code using the business SIM line.

How do I switch the receptionist off?▼

You can turn off call diversion at any second by dialling ##004# (or ##21#) directly on your mobile keypad.

Is there really no monthly subscription fee?▼

Are short or silent calls charged?▼

Calls under 5 seconds (wrong numbers, immediate hang-ups, silent robocalls) are 100% free of charge.

How much does the UK number cost?▼

Your dedicated UK mobile number is included free for your first month. After that, it costs £2.99 per month, deducted automatically from your credit balance.

Can I get a refund if I decide not to use it?▼

Yes! Under our consumer and trade guarantee, you can request a full refund of your unused prepaid credit balance at any time by contacting hello@myreceptionist.uk.
